Tuesday: Curriculum Development Consultant at Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility Marieke van Woerkom is working with Secondary teachers and Y10 advisors on using mindfulness as a tool to help students focus and be less stressed.
Monday: For Black History Month, Secondary students attended a performance on the theme “Women of Courage” which looks into the lives of two women whose contributions and accomplishments are relevant to the tapestry of African American history, women’s suffrage movement and the civil rights movement. The woman in the picture plays Ida B. Wells, born a slave in Mississippi in 1862 and who fought to become an educated woman, first becoming a teacher and later a journalist, newspaper editor, woman’s suffragist and early leader in the civil rights movement.
Monday: Exchange students from Fudan University are teaching Chinese calligraphy in a 3rd grade class.
